The National Broadband Ireland (NBI) project is the largest ever telecommunications investment in the history of the Irish State. It is tasked with delivering the National Broadband Plan (NBP), which aims to bridge the digital divide by bringing high-speed fibre broadband to every home, farm, and business in Ireland.
The project specifically targets the “Intervention Area” – roughly 566,000 premises (covering 96% of Ireland’s landmass and 23% of the population)
Since it’s commencement, ICL has been a key contributor to the National Broadband Ireland project, delivering critical infrastructure across the country. Our teams have operated on a nationwide scale, providing end-to-end technical solutions including comprehensive underground and overhead cabling. ICL’s expertise in fibre optic splicing and testing has been instrumental in ensuring high-performance connectivity and network integrity throughout the rollout, supporting the goal of bringing high-speed broadband to every corner of Ireland.
